Four intersections to close as Enumclaw builds ADA ramps

This includes the 244th intersections with Sunrise Elementary and McDougal, as well as the Monroe and Railroad and Watson and Dickson intersections.

Several streets in Enumclaw will be closed for a combined two weeks as the city builds new ADA ramps.

According to the city’s Public Works department, 244th will be closed at the McDougal Avenue and Sunrise Elementary intersections during the Enumclaw School District’s spring break, from April 12 to 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Additionally, the Monroe and Railroad Street intersection and the Watson Street and Dickson Avenue intersection will soon close — the former from April 17 to 18, and the latter from April 22 to 24, both from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This project is a part of the city’s ongoing ADA retrofit program.

“We are required to upgrade ramps when they fall within the project boundaries,” said City Administrator Chris Searcy. “If we start repaving streets with ramps meeting current code, then we will embark on a ramp-specific retrofit program throughout the city.”
