The Bonney Lake Lion’s seventh annual Death by Chocolate Dinner Auction will be Saturday at the Bonney Lake High School Commons.
Andrea Henschell, Death by Chocolate chair, said that this is the most important fundraiser for the Lions. Though they also sell apples in the fall, the annual dinner and auction is by far their largest moneymaker.
The night will include multiple auctions, both silent and live, as well as a performance by The Gothard Sisters, a trio of accomplished Celtic musicians.
The Gothard Sisters have been performing together for about seven years. Their Irish style of song and dance will be perfectly suited for the fundraiser, which is taking place less than a week after St. Patrick’s Day, said Henschell.
The sisters have performed at the Bonney Lake Days Festival and the Puyallup Fair several times in the past. This year, however, the Edmonds-based sisters have a national tour of 23 states. Though they’ll be around for four days at the Spring Fair, they won’t have any time to spend in Bonney Lake for the remainder of the year. Greta Gothard encouraged everyone to come out for Death by Chocolate.
“I think Bonney Lake is great,” she said. “I totally support what the Lions do and I really hope everyone comes out to support them with us.”
Dinner will be prepared by the Culinary Arts Club, led by Prostart Teacher of the Year, Kahale Ahina.
The Bonney Lake Lions Club supports the community in a myriad of ways through donations and volunteer hours. They provide eye exams, hearing aids and Bonney Lake High School scholarships. They also make funds available for the senior center, food bank and Lions 4 Kids House.
Proceeds from the evening will directly benefit programs hosted by the Lions. Tickets cost $25 for advance purchase or $35 at the door. For more information, visit the Bonney Lake Lions Foundation.
