Gardening series set for November

The 21st Century Gardening Workshop Series is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Pierce County Environmental Services Building 9850 64th St. W. in University Place.

The 21st Century Gardening Workshop Series is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Pierce County Environmental Services Building 9850 64th St. W. in University Place.

The series is a program presented by the Washington State University Pierce County Master Gardener program.

Pre-registration is required and the cost is $15.

The workshop topic will be Living Roofs presented by Patrick Carey of Hadj Design. Green roofs are now gaining interest in the United States, primarily for their ability to reduce storm water runoff. Learn about the many benefits of a green roof, the elements of a green roof, and local resources for either doing-it-yourself or using a contractor.

Green roof projects range from sheds and chicken coops to homes and commercial buildings.
