CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteers have been providing advocacy for children in foster care in Pierce County for more than 30 years. There are currently 230 CASA Volunteers, and more are needed. At any given time, there are about 1,400 children in foster care in Pierce County. CASAs are assigned to about 700 of those children. The CASA Program is seeking volunteers so that CASAs can be provided to the 750 children who do not have a CASA advocate.

Each year the CASA Program holds an event during April, which is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. This year’s event is focused on raising awareness about CASA throughout our community. Superior Court Judge Thomas Felnagle also will speak, and the St. Charles Borromeo 12th Street Singers will perform.
