IDENTITY THEFT: Police received a call Aug. 8 from a local resident who had been contacted by his bank regarding application forms for a new credit card. The potential victim had not made any such request. He did not sustain any financial loss. On the same day, police contacted a woman regarding the attempted use of a credit card that had been opened in her name. In a third instance, police contacted a Warwick Street resident who said a purchased had been attempted in Illinois with his credit card.

CHASED BY DOG: A Franklin Street resident reported Aug. 8 her son had been chased by a dog running loose. The boxer did not bite or make physical contact. Police contacted the owner, who was unaware the animal had gotten loose. She was warned about future occurrences.

CRITTER VISIT: A Harding Street resident called police at 2:05 a.m. Aug. 7, reporting an opossum in her home. An officer was able to rid the house of the critter and the problem was settled.

FIRECRACKER: A Florence Street resident complained to police Aug. 7 of two males who threw an apple containing a firecracker at his residence. The two were contacted by an officer and advised to halt their activity.
