The Bonney Lake Senior Center is requesting meal and monetary donations for the 2010 holiday season.

The senior center has hosted Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for more than eight years. Most seniors who are members of the center are low income and don’t have family living nearby, Senior Services Assistant Staci Guirsch wrote in an e-mail requesting donations.

“It’s like being with a really large family,” she said. “The seniors socialize, visit with everyone and talk about past holiday dinners. It’s very festive.”

Each group meal costs about $750, which the city does not cover. The budget goes to centeprieces and food.

The signup sheet for the dinners will be posted in the senior center on Oct. 1 and will stay up until filled.
