The resident reported he found the subject in his home when he returned from work. The suspect was placed under arrest and a search revealed a knife, a small bottle containing Oxycontin pills and and a smoking device. The subject said he was not alone but he did not know where the second suspect or the vehicle in which they arrived had gone.

THEFT: Police on May 3 were dispatched to the 11000 block of 188th Avenue Court East for a report of a theft of communication wire from the Victor Falls Elementary construction site. According to a subcontractor, three spools of wire were taken from an unlocked storage container. According to the report, the wire is not the “valuable” kind usually targeted by thieves and is valued at about $3,000.

METH: Police on April 29 were called to the 9800 block of 192nd Avenue East for a report of possible narcotics activity. The reporting party allegedly saw narcotics in a vehicle of a friend of a family member that she does not trust. The vehicle owner was not around, but the door was unlocked and police tested the substance, which tested positive for methamphetamine, and confiscated the drugs. Police advised the reporting party to continue talking to the family member about the friend.

BURGLARY: Police on April 30 were called to the 18600 block of 68th Street East for a report of an interrupted burglary in which the resident had the suspect detained in his residence. The resident reported he found the subject in his home when he returned from work. The suspect was placed under arrest and a search revealed a knife, a small bottle containing Oxycontin pills and and a smoking device. The subject said he was not alone but he did not know where the second suspect or the vehicle in which they arrived had gone. During the arrest, the suspect’s phone rang and the suspect said it was the other subject with whom he arrived. The subject in custody advised the subject on the phone that he had been arrested and advised the second subject to return to the scene. The second subject asked if police knew who he was and an officer listening to the call responded that yes, they knew who he was and where he lived. The second suspect gave his location and his vehicle was stopped and he was taken into custody without incident. Police recovered from the vehicle bags of stolen coins and collectible currency as well as jewelry belonging to the victim’s wife, as well as a smoking device from the driver. Both subjects were transported to Pierce County Jail. The first subject was charged with first-degree burglary, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, third-degree malicious mischief, possession of stolen property, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. The second suspect was charged with first-degree burglary, malicious mischief, possession of stolen property, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with license suspended.

BURGLARY: Police on May 1 were dispatched to the 17600 block of Panorama Drive for a report that residence had been broken into. The house was being prepared for sale by a real estate agent who reported that two doors to the home had been pried open. Only minor items were taken. The agent provided suspect information and police are investigating.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: Police on May 3 were dispatched to the 18800 block of Mountain View Drive East for a report of an attempted car theft. The victim reported that someone had entered his vehicle over the weekend, stolen a Leatherman multi-tool valued at $65 and also damaged the vehicle’s ignition switch. A kill switch on the vehicle would have prevented it from being stolen. Police are investigating.

POT POSSESSION: Police on April 30 completed a traffic stop in which the passenger was found to have a warrant. While detained the passenger admitted he had marijuana and hashish and a smoking device in his pocket. He was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia .

SHOPLIFTING: Police on April 30 were called to Walmart on a shoplifting report. Loss prevention detained a male who attempted to leave the store with merchandise in his pants. Surveillance indicated a female accomplice. Police are investigating.

BURGLARY: Police on May 5 were dispatched to the 4900 block of 197th Avenue East for a report of a residential burglary. The house is currently under foreclosure. Police checked the residence and nothing appeared to be missing, though the door had been pried open.

DRUGS: Police on May 1 stopped a vehicle in the 20000 block of South Prairie Road because a records check revealed the registered owner to be driving with license suspended. Police contacted the driver who admitted to having a suspended license and not having insurance. When police asked the passenger for his name, he gave a name and then said he did not have a middle initial. When asked for his date of birth, the officer reports the man “acted intoxicated and pretended to pass out” leading the officer to conclude he was trying to hide something. A check of the name revealed a felony warrant on someone matching the name and photo of the passenger. When he was arrested, the man said he wanted to give his true name and gave the officers a second name, which also returned an outstanding warrant. Police also observed what appeared to be marijuana and a smoking pipe in the vehicle and conducted a search. The passenger reported that he had marijuana and ecstasy in the vehicle which he said were his. The driver was cited for driving with license suspended and the passenger was transported to Pierce County Jail and was booked on unlawful possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and his warrant.

BURGLARY: Police on May 4 were called to the 9400 block of 181st Avenue East for a report of a burglary. The resident arrived home to find the sliding glass door smashed and a jewelry box missing. Police are investigating.

BOMB THREAT: Police on May 5 arrested a 17-year-old male student at Bonney Lake High School for allegedly making a verbal threat to bomb the school. The student allegedly told a teacher he wanted to “blow up the place,” repeating the threat even when told he could not say things like that. The teacher said they believed the student would not actually commit the act and was blowing off steam. Police arrested the student, who was cooperative and said he did not know it was illegal to make such statements. The student was immediately expelled from school and transported to Remann Hall where he was charged with threats to bomb or injure property.
