Hot rods to fill downtown Enumclaw

Street rods polished to high shine, carefully-crafted custom cruisers and more than a few hot rods - and even a few motorcycles - will hit the streets of Enumclaw Saturday.

Street rods polished to high shine, carefully-crafted custom cruisers and more than a few hot rods - and even a few motorcycles - will hit the streets of Enumclaw Saturday.

If Cole Street is home to flames, polished chrome and cool paint jobs, it must be time for the annual Cruise Into Fall car show.

Members of the Stratocruisers Street Rod and Collectable Car Club will sponsor their fifth annual event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, with registration and set up beginning at 8. There are dash plaques and goodie-bags for the first 100 cars to register and the entrance fee per car is $15 the day of the show. The show is open for all pre-1980 cars, trucks, customs and street rods. For information, contact Mike Lebow at 360-825-6343.

Cars will line Cole Street between Stevenson and Washington avenues, meaning Cole will be off-limits to other motorists. Griffin Avenue will remain open to traffic.

Those attending the show will be able to vote for a variety of other awards.

There will be live entertainment - Richard Dean will play oldies rock from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. - and a raffle, with proceeds from that and the car show being donated to local charities. Among the recipients are Enumclaw Regional Hospital, Medic One, Children's Hospital, Northwest Second Harvest Toy's For Tots program and the Enumclaw Senior Activity Center.
