King County legislators and members of the community will come together to discuss the upcoming legislative session and the need to ensure critical funding for youth and adults who need mental health and substance abuse treatment services.

Issues for Mental Health and Substance Abuse in 2013

Deputy King County Executive Fred Jarrett will provide opening remarks. More than 20 state legislators and more than 400 community members are expected to attend.
The program will feature the personal stories of people in recovery from addiction or mental illness, thanks to the treatment services they received, and parents speaking about the need for prevention services for youth. A roundtable discussion with state legislators will close the program. The forum will be moderated by Neil Scott, host of Recovery Coast to Coast, an evening radio show (Clear Channel AM 850) focused on addiction, treatment, and recovery.
More than 40,000 youth and adults received treatment services in King County last year.
The annual forum, now in its 16th year, is co-sponsored by the King County Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Board, the King County Mental Health Board, the King County Community Organizing Board, and the local chapters of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) – NAMI Eastside, NAMI Greater Seattle, and NAMI South King County.
