Motorists from Enumclaw and Buckley were involved in a four-car collision Saturday afternoon on state Route 512 just west of the Puyallup fairgrounds.
According to a Washington State Patrol report, witnesses said Cynthia S. Rice of Enumclaw was driving a red, 2004 Mini Cooper. It was raining and witnesses advised that Rice was driving too fast for the conditions in the right lane. T=raffic had slowed in front of her, she was unable to stop in time and tried to change into the lane to the left before striking the vehicle in front of her. Rice struck a white, 1997 Pontiac driven by 18-year-old Mandalynn E. Summers of Buckley. The WSP reported Summers sustained significant, but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup.
Rice was taken into custody and, according to the WSP, may be charged with vehicular assault.
Summers’ vehicle was pushed into a black 2002 Kia driven by Ricky W. Epler of Puyallup. He sustained minor injuries and was transported to Good Samaritan. Epler’s vehicle was then pushed into a 2004 Ford driven by Jerrell M. Gosvenor of Puyallup. He and his female passenger were not injured.
Two of the three lanes of 512 were blocked for more than two hours for the investigation.
