Sarah Lurry and Terenn Houk were awarded the Ray Limbo Masonic Junior Achievement Scholarship at the group’s annual banquet Thursday night.

The Enumclaw High School juniors will receive $1,000 as part of the honor. Kelly Sweeney and William Walker were also honored and will receive a $500 scholarship.

Other finalists included Erin White, Julia Harris, Holly Norton, William Holland, Patrick Putman and Kurt Kindsvater.

Lurry is the daughter of Robert and Laura Lurry. She maintains a 4.0 grade-point average and is active in leadership, sports, cheerleading and the school newspaper. Outside the classrooms, she is active in her church and other community services. She plans to become a pediatric physical therapist, specializing in the ankle and foot.

Houk is the son of Laini Goodlett and Travis Goodlett. He is active in student leadership, sports and a number of community activities, while maintaining a 3.99 grade-point average. After high school, he plans to go on to college to study engineering with an emphasis in design and architecture.

Sweeney is the daughter of Dave and Kim Sweeney. She is active in many EHS clubs, the newspaper, golf and music, as well as community programs. She plans to become a physical therapist.

Walker is the son of Kevin and Kathy Walker. He is involved in a number of EHS clubs, as well as sports and music. He also volunteers at many activities around town. He plans to study medicine to become a doctor.

Money for the long-standing Enumclaw tradition of Junior Achievement scholarship comes from the Mason’s pancake breakfast.
