Today Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist charged Nicholas Shreck, 36, with voyeurism for using a hidden video camera to film up girls’ skirts at Puyallup’s South Hill Mall. Shreck was arraigned today at 1:30 p.m. and is being held in lieu of $150,000 bail.

“In 2003 the legislature passed a law that makes this conduct illegal,” said Prosecutor Mark Lindquist. “We vigorously prosecute these violations of privacy.”

On Aug. 10, 2014, a loss prevention officer working in the South Hill Mall noticed Shreck following girls around the store with a small shopping basket in his hand. The employee suspected Shreck was filming up the girls’ skirts, so he confronted Shreck. Inside the basket was a video camera concealed by cardboard and newspaper.

Police examined the camera and found over 100,000 digital photos and numerous hours of video, taken in various grocery and department stores. Many of the images and video were of girls in their early teens.

Shreck told police he used the video for his personal sexual gratification.

Charges are only allegations and a person is presumed innocent unless he or she is proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
