Today Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist charged Jason Madron, 30, with Murder in the First Degree for stabbing Jacob Glenn, 23, to death near a Fox Island gas station.

“This was a disturbing crime, particularly for the Fox Island community,” Lindquist said. “Sheriff’s detectives did a good job solving this case.”

In the late hours of November 20, 2013, the defendant and a group of friends drove from Tacoma to Fox Island to meet the victim for a drug deal. The victim got into the car to make the exchange. Instead of paying for the drugs, the defendant attempted to rob the victim. The defendant and victim got out of the car and a struggle ensued. The defendant stabbed the victim in the chest.

The victim’s body was discovered the following morning by a gas station customer. According to the medical examiner, the victim died from a single stab wound to the chest, which severed a major artery.

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned today at 1:30pm in Courtroom 270 of the County-City Building in Tacoma. Charges are only allegations and a person is presumed innocent unless he or she is proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
