King County Metro Transit is proposing a series of customized transit options to help riders from Enumclaw to Renton get where they need to go.
Metro has been reaching out to local governments, community groups and riders and recently held a series of public meetings to help identify alternative transit services that are cost effective and offer improved choices in southeast King County.
That community outreach has now produced a series of proposals that would reinvest current service hours in ways that better reflect ridership use while offering creative, cost-effective alternatives to fixed-route service in two key transit corridors.
In the short-term, Metro proposes to improve service on Route 915 between Enumclaw and Auburn to meet existing and projected demand. With this change, riders will benefit from more frequent hourly weekday service. The service adjustment would take effect as part of Metro’s March, 2016 service change.
Then in September, 2016, Metro is proposing to adjust the frequency of service on the Route 907 along SR 169 between Renton and Black Diamond and eliminate a low ridership segment of the route between Black Diamond and Enumclaw. In the coming months, Metro will look at using customized transit tools, such as community vans, VanPools, TripPools and emergency ride home programs along the corridor to better serve riders traveling between Black Diamond and Enumclaw. (See map for more detail.)
Proposed improvements to the Route 915 are included in the March, 2016 proposed service ordinance King County Executive Dow Constantine has submitted to the King County Council. Adjustments to the Route 907 will be considered by the county council as it reviews service changes proposed for September, 2016, provided alternative services are in place to maintain connections between Enumclaw and Black Diamond.
This work in southeast King County is part of a series of alternative services projects taking place in partnership with communities throughout the area. Alternative services are non-fixed route mobility options tailored to the unique transportation needs of each community.
