Officer Vince Sainati is the nicest guy in Bonney Lake that most people never want to meet - at least when he's on duty.

Sainati returned to speed enforcement patrol with a new BMW motorcycle the first week of January after being off the streets since September due to an accident.

The officer was injured Sept. 10 in the 19800 block of Sumner-Buckley Highway when a vehicle driven by a 55-year-old woman turned in front of his motorcycle.

Sainati sustained numerous injuries after being thrown into the air from the impact. The bike was a total loss.

It was the first accident for Sainati while patrolling on his motorcycle.

The officer said his shoulder continues to bother him, but not enough to keep him away from the job.

“The doctor said it takes tendons longer to heal,” Sainati said. “I'll work it back.”

The department purchased the new BMW and had it fitted with emergency lights, a radar gun holder and other amenities.

“I'm getting used to it,” Sainati said. “It brakes a little different, but it's a nice bike.”

Sainati said he's had a few nervous moments since returning to the seat of the BMW, “but that's part of it. I love it. My wife was a little worried, but she is very supportive and that helps a lot.”

The officer can be seen patrolling the streets around the city on almost any day.

It's a good idea to wave and make sure to slow down.
