Mountain Meadow Elementary will host its third annual free community/family reading night Jan. 28, this year carrying the theme, “Reading is Timeless.”
Organizers hope to share how technology has a huge impact on reading and writing in the 21st century, but also make sure everyone enjoys the classic, favorite stories of the past.
This event has always been well attended, with more than 400 students present last year. One of the students’ favorite things is to attend dressed as their favorite book character. Teachers and staff enjoy dressing up, too, and talking about their favorite books.
The White River School District elementary will open its doors from 6 to 7:30 p.m. for families of children in preschool through fifth grade. They will enjoy a night of reading, literacy games, student presentations and educational resources for parents.
The PTA will host a Scholastic Book Fair and will provide refreshments and a free book to every child who attends.
