Mrs. WA Plus America, Kym Hopen of Bonney Lake, and her daughter Raven Hopen are hosting a fundraiser as part of the Queens For a Cure pageant, in which Raven is competing.
The event is designed to raise money for the Susan G. Komen foundation and it allows for the winners to be a part of the 2013 Race for the Cure team.
The goal is to raise at least $500 in the month of October which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Local private vendors will be set up for an open house style event and all vendors have agreed to donate their proceeds from this event directly to Raven who will make one large donation at the Queens for a Cure pageant on 11/3/12.
Raven is dedicating all of her efforts and her performance in this pageant to her aunt, Donna Walker, who will be in attendance as and is a breast cancer survivor.
The event is scheduled for 2 to 6 p.m. Oct. 28 at 10900 183rd Ave. E. in Bonney Lake. For more information, call 253-241-9731.
People who cannot attend the event, but still want to help, can go to Queensforacure.com and donate directly from the website. Donors are asked to please list Raven Hopen as the contestant for whom that they are donating.
