...LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL IS POSSIBLE OVER WESTERN WASHINGTON
THURSDAY THROUGH FRIDAY...
A SLOW MOVING UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM SITTING OFF THE OREGON
COAST IS EXPECTED TO DRIFT EAST TODAY. THE LOW WILL MOVE OVER OREGON
ON THURSDAY AND INTO CENTRAL WASHINGTON ON FRIDAY. AS THE LOW
APPROACHES AND MOVES INTO THE AREA...SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL
INCREASE ON THURSDAY AND CONTINUE INTO FRIDAY. THESE STORMS WILL
LIKELY PRODUCE LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL AMOUNTS.
FORECASTING THE MOVEMENT AND TIMING OF UPPER LEVEL LOWS CAN BE QUITE
DIFFICULT. CURRENTLY IT LOOKS LIKE THE HEAVIEST RAINFALL WILL BE
BETWEEN MIDDAY THURSDAY AND MIDDAY FRIDAY WITH 1 TO 2 INCHES
POSSIBLE OVER THE LOWLANDS AND UP TO 4 INCHES LOCALLY IN THE
CASCADES.
EXCESSIVE RAINFALL RATES CAN OVERWHELM STORM DRAINAGE IN URBAN
AREAS...LEADING TO URBAN FLOODING. THIS CAN ALSO RESULT IN
FLOODING OF SMALL STREAMS.
SINCE WEATHER CONDITIONS WITH UPPER LOWS CAN EVOLVE QUICKLY...
PEOPLE ACROSS WESTERN WASHINGTON ARE URGED TO STAY TUNED TO LATEST
FORECASTS AND UPDATES.
