Bonney Lake is ready for its close-up, Mr. De Mille.
City staff are currently at work on a new video to highlight Bonney Lake to potential new residents and business and hope to have it completed this spring.
“It’s telling a story, that’s what we’re trying to do,” Hartsell said.
Though the video is not yet complete, the Courier-Herald saw an early draft of the project.
The six-minute video is broken into three sections highlighting different selling points to Bonney Lake: Beautifully situated, community centered and business friendly.
The video opens with scenes of natural beauty from Bonney Lake and around the region, including Fennel Creek, Lake Debra Jane and Victor Falls, described as a “hidden gem.”It also highlights the beauty and recreational opportunities of Lake Tapps, including video of water skiers, fishing and, of course, the visage of Mt. Rainier hovering over the south end of the lake.
In the second section, the clips switch to discuss the “community centered” aspect of city life, including clips from Bonney Lake Days, Beautify Bonney Lake, the Kids’ Club at Cedarview Park and the city’s Tree City U.S.A. status, among other things.
The third section, focusing on the “business friendly” environment in the city, is tsill being completed.
“There’s a lot going on in this community we can all be proud of,” Hartsell said. “Seeing it all together, I’m reminded this is a great community.”
It’s exactly what the city is hoping other viewers see too.
Hartsell said the video, when completed, would be out on the city’s website as well as used at conventions and trade shows as “one more thing to supplement what we’re doing.”
But don’t expect a red carpet premiere, when the video is completed. According to Hartsell, the video is just a small project being put together by city staffers with a digital camera and simple editing software, hardly an Oscar-caliber product.
“We’re not out to spend a lot of money on this,” he said. “It’s not a Hollywood product, by any stretch of the imagination.”
