Pierce County officials announced Wednesday that Niagara Bottling will open a water bottling facility in Frederickson. The company is the largest family owned water bottler in the United States, with 13 existing bottling facilities around the country. Their 14th facility in Randles Business Park will be the first in the Pacific Northwest.
Groundbreaking on the 311,000-square-foot facility is expected to begin this fall for an early 2014 opening. The company’s capital investment is approximately $50 million, and the opening is anticipated to create an initial 36 jobs.
According to Brian Hess, Niagara Bottling LLC’s Executive Vice President of Legal Affairs, the state Department of Commerce, the county goverment and the Economic Development Board for Tacoma-Pierce County joined forces over seven months to convince the company the region was a good fit.
“Other Northwest states were in the running for this innovative operation and these good jobs,” Governor Jay Inslee said, praising the joint effort in a county press release. The governor called Niagara “a dynamic, environmentally-conscious, advanced manufacturing company.”
Niagara Bottling joins other national companies like Amazon, State Farm and Green Mountain Coffee Roasters in its decision to expand into Pierce County.
