All suspects in the police blotter are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
ILLEGAL DOG: At 2:09 p.m. Aug. 16, an officer was dispatched to D Street on a tip that a pit bull was running free. The dog left the area when it was seen on the street, and it was last seen in the woods behind a Mountain View residence. The owner of the dog returned to her home and the officer informed her it is illegal to have a pitbull in the city of Buckley. The owner told the officer that when she found the dog, she would relocate it outside city limits.
THEFT: At 7:10 a.m. Aug. 12, officers were dispatched to a Main Street address regarding theft of money. A suspect was apparent in the case, so officers contacted the 30-year-old woman later in the day. She cooperated with police and completed a statement regarding her participation in the theft. She was arrested and released with a citation and court date.
ABANDONED VEHICLE: At 5:39 p.m. Aug. 17, an officer was dispatched to a vehicle found abandoned in a ditch at a South Sergeant Street address. There was no one around and the officer had dispatch attempt to contact the registered owner. The owner was not able to be contacted, and the vehicle was impounded.
DUI: At 3:23 a.m. Aug. 18, an officer stopped a vehicle for driving over both the fog line and center line of the road. The driver performed some voluntary sobriety tests and she was placed under arrest for driving under the influence.
THESE DITCHES ARE A MENACE: At 10:19 a.m. Aug. 18, an officer was dispatched to a vehicle in a ditch on Ryan Road. The car was still occupied on arrival. The occupants were evacuated to a van summoned to the scene. The driver said his attention had been drawn from the road by a client and the vehicle drifted into the ditch. A Department of Licensing check showed the driver’s license was suspended in the third degree. He was cited and released at the scene; a state collision report was completed.
PASSED OUT AT THE WHEEL: At 3:18 a.m. Aug. 21, an officer on Church Street observed a vehicle without a front plate at a stop sign. The officer pulled past and around the vehicle, activating the emergency lights. When the officer approached the car, he saw the driver asleep at the steering wheel. He shined his flashlight in the man’s face, eliciting no response. He knocked on the window and the driver awoke with a start, jerking the car forward since it was still in drive. The man was placed under arrest for DUI, drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of fewer than 40 grams of marijuana. His vehicle was impounded and he was taken into custody for a blood draw.
COMMERCIAL LICENSE REQUIRED: On Aug. 27, an officer on patrol observed a commercial motor vehicle westbound on state Route 410 with brake lights that were not visible at a distance fewer than 300 feet. The vehicle was stopped, and the driver was found not to have a Class A Commercial Drivers License. The driver was issued a notice of infraction and citation and released at the scene.
