HIT AND RUN: On March 18 officers were called to a hit and run in a grocery store parking lot. A witness told officers where the victim vehicle and the vehicle that hit it were parked. The driver of the suspect vehicle was not in the car, so officers waited until she returned. When she did, she told officers she scratched the other car a little and answered officer’s questions. Field sobriety tests clued officers in to the fact she was intoxicated. A breathalyzer later revealed her BAC to be around .167. The driver was cited and booked at the Puyallup Jail.
PACKING HEAT: Officers were dispatched to a fight in progress at a restaurant on March 18. Dispatch reported there was also a hit and run involved and one of the participants was threatening to use his handgun. Officers arrived and exited their vehicle but were unable to determine which of the males had the handgun. One of the males started to approach the officers, who drew their weapons and ordered the man to the ground. The male was uncooperative and officers escorted him to the ground, placed him in handcuffs and secured him in a patrol car. The other male was cooperative and told officers his handgun was in the front seat of his vehicle. Officers obtained permission to secure the weapon. Officers learned the uncooperative male had left the restaurant and came back with damage to his vehicle. He then proceeded to argue with the cooperative male, who attempted to back away from the situation into his car. The uncooperative male followed and began punching the vehicle window, which was when the cooperative male said he would shoot the other man if he did not back away from his vehicle. The uncooperative male later told officers he was involved in a hit and run when he initially left the restaurant and returned to tell his fiancée, the owner of the car, about the damage. The uncooperative male was cited for hit and run, reckless driving and assault in the fourth degree.
