Two Bonney Lake grade school students have brought the Bonney Lake Food Bank a collection of donations.

Gabrielle Miller and McKenzie Radcliffe, both fourth grade students at Cascade Christian School in Puyallup, donated 200 pounds of canned goods to the food bank Friday. The donation included 213 items as varied as fruit, soup, baby food and coconut milk.

Miller and Radcliffe donated the goods as part of their school’s annual Feet To Faith project, which challenges and requires students in grades two through six to develop and execute a service project.

“We walked up to neighbors houses and we said we’re doing a project for school donating cans to the food bank,” Miller said. “We asked if they had any extra cans of food they would like to go there.”

The girls collected the cans over two days.

“We really, really appreciate how the girls have helped get all the cans for us,” Assistant Food Bank Manager Mary Maddox said. “If you look in our storage room, it used to be filled all the time. Now it has empty spaces. These donations help.”
