FRAUD: Police on Jan. 11 were dispatched to the Harborstone Credit Union for a report of attempted fraud. According to the reporting party, the credit union contacted her about a check of approximately $2,000 from her business that had been deposited in an account. An employee of the bank noticed the transaction and called the business to verify funds and discovered the fraud. No funds were lost in the case due to the employee’s diligence. Police are investigating.
PROWL: Police on jan. 17 were dispatched to the 19300 block of 65th Street East for a report of a vehicle prowl. The passenger side window of a truck parked in a driveway was broken and a laptop was taken. Police are investigating.
MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: Police on Jan. 17 were dispatched to the 7700 block of 184th Avenue East for a report of a vehicle prowl. The passenger side window of a car parked in front of the victim’s home was broken, though nothing appeared to be missing from the vehicle. Police observed footprints in the snow leading to the vehicle, but they disappeared. Earlier in the day, police received a report from the same area about a suspicious person. Police are investigating.
ASSAULT WITH A KNIFE: Officers on Jan. 17 were dispatched to the 7200 block of 188th Avenue East for a report of an assault with a knife. According to a witness, one of the parties did not have enough gasoline to take another person home, so a parent was called for a ride. When the parent arrived, there was a confrontation when the parent told the other party she was a bad influence on his daughter. Another person became upset at the characterization and went outside to confront the parent. A witness said it appeared the third party was trying to start a fight with the parent. The witness said the third party hit the parent’s vehicle and then pulled out a knife before punching the parent through the window. According to the third party, he did not go outside to start a fight, but pulled his knife out of the sheath during the discussion, which prompted the parent to say “I have a knife, too.” The third party told police he took that as a threat and punched the parent. The third party was arrested on charges of displaying a weapon and fourth-degree assault. He was transported to the Buckley jail and booked on the charges.
MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: Police on Jan. 19 took a phone call regarding damage to a cell phone tower located behind Albertson’s. The reporting party noticed the front door and frame of the tower had been pried open and damaged, the shed had been entered but nothing appeared to be missing. Police are investigating.
BURGLARY: Police in the early morning hours of Jan. 20 were called to the Bonney Lake Grocery for a report of a possible burglary. Dispatch advised that a Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputy was flagged down by an unknown citizen saying the store appeared to be broken into. When police arrived, they noted the front door shattered and a case of alcohol possibly missing from the cooler. The owner reported damage of approximately $300 and missing cases of beer. Police are investigating.
PROWL: Police on Jan. 21 to a report regarding a vehicle prowl in the 7500 block of Locust Avenue. The victim said she left her car at the bottom of her driveway due to the weather and later saw that a back window had been broken and vehicle had been rifled through. The victim’s passport, a bottle of perfume and her grandmother’s prescription container of hydrocodone had been taken. Police are investigating.
MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: Police on Jan. 24 took a report of vandalism to a business. According to the owner, a junction box was forced open and wires leading to the business were cut. The owner believes it was an attempt to disable the alarm system. Police are investigating.
