Enumclaw-based photographer Lisa Parsons presents Confluence: The Green River Gorge at the city of Enumclaw’s Gallery 2010.

The exhibit opens today, Wednesday, and continues through Oct. 5 at City Hall, 1339 Griffin Ave. The gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. The gallery is closed to the public Tuesdays for municipal court proceedings and national holidays.

Parsons is a world traveler, local environmentalist and an artist with an eye for beauty.

“Through photography and a sense of place, I strive to increase awareness of how we are connected to our community and natural spaces with an emphasis on envisioning the future while keeping what is important from our past,” Parsons said in a release from the city. “We are at a confluence of thought (growth and conservation), quality of life (rural versus urban) that will define how our natural environment will connect us and be a part of our communities as we struggle or embrace the changing landscape.

I hope to draw on the emotional power of my photography as a catalyst to inspire the preservation of one of our most cherished cultural and natural resources— the Green River Gorge.”

Artists have been selected by the arts commission to exhibit at Gallery 2010. Guest artist Lauri Hillberg and Birds of Enumclaw is scheduled for October with Bob Charlo/Kalispel Nation, November, and Payette Still, December.
