A former hard money lender who resides in University Place, Washington pleaded guilty Friday to Conspiracy to Submit False Statements in Loan Applications and to Make False Statements to the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and Submitting False Statements in Loan Applications, announced U.S. Attorney Jenny A. Durkan.
EMIEL A. KANDI, 37, was indicted last June for a mortgage scheme that caused a loss of more than $800,000 to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Prosecutors agree to recommend a sentence of no more than 78 months in prison when KANDI is sentenced by U.S. District Judge Ronald B. Leighton on September 5, 2014. However, Judge Leighton is not bound by that recommendation and can impose any sentence allowed by law.
