Explore everything do-it-yourself from local authors to live demonstrations.
Explore everything do-it-yourself at Pierce County Library’s first ever DIYfest from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 15 at the Fruitland Grange, 11102 86th Ave. E., in Puyallup.
The free event features local authors, hands-on activities, kitchen demos, food trucks and a DIY bookmobile. Learn from exhibitors who know a thing or two about gardening, farming, household sustainability, handcrafts, and things to keep young DIY-ers interested.
Meet the authors: Dee Williams of “The Big Tiny,” Blair Stocker of “Wise Craft,” Jennie Grant of “City Goats” and Lisa Taylor of “Your Farm in the City.” Books will be available for purchase and signing. Board the library’s DIY bookmobile to browse and check out all manner of DIY books. See the suggested reading list.
See kitchen experts at work creating pie crust, decorating cakes, juicing, canning, and making everything from kraut and kimchi to sugar-free jams and jellies. Talk with exhibitors about architectural salvage, bartering, bike repair, calligraphy, fermentation, local healthy food, native plants, poultry, rain barrels, solar ovens, spinning, tree planting and more.
This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). Pierce County Library earned IMLS’s National Medal for Museum and Library Service in 2013.
