Citizens who live in northwestern Pierce County will have two upcoming opportunities to learn more about the expected benefits and get an update on planning for next year’s U.S. Open golf tournament. The county will hold two meetings – one in Tacoma and another in Gig Harbor – in September and October, and is inviting all county residents to attend.

“Bringing the U.S. Open to Chambers Bay next summer will have a big economic impact on our region that week and for years to come,” said Councilman Stan Flemming, who represents the 7th District. “I am hosting these meetings in my district so that folks can learn more about the benefits as well as get an update on the planning and preparations for this historic event.”

The first meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 23, at 6 p.m. in the Wheelock Library. The address is 3722 N. 26th St. in Tacoma. The second meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 9, at 6 p.m. in the Gig Harbor Civic Center’s council chambers. The address is 3510 Grandview St. in Gig Harbor.
