Pierce County rolls out new website (with some glitches)

The site home page was showing graphical glitches yesterday and today. The wonky appearance—pictures not loading correctly, objects appearing in places where they're not supposed to, etc.—only happens on the site's welcome page and seemingly only in the Google Chrome browser.

Pierce County rolled out a website redesign Sunday, and it’s looking spiffy… when it works.

The site home page was showing graphical glitches yesterday and today. The wonky appearance—pictures not loading correctly, objects appearing in places where they’re not supposed to, etc.—only happens on the site’s welcome page and seemingly only in the Google Chrome browser. Firefox and Safari both loaded the page fine, when tested.

According to a press release from the County, some of the website redesigns include:

  • A “How Do I” button to provide quick access on every page to common requests from customers.
  • Revamped global navigation at the top of the page to place departments, programs and services in user-friendly categories.
  • Clear and consistently presented contact information.
  • ools that organize and present information in reader-friendly ways, such as a FAQ page and quick links to other resources.
