PLATEAU PEOPLE

First Lt. Kelsey D. Burwell is an attorney with the U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General. She completed commissioned officer training at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama in February, receiving distinguished graduate honors. She is now attending the Judge Advocate Staff Officer Course at Maxwell AFB. She is a graduate of Enumclaw High School and a 2006 graduate (cum laude) of Pacific Lutheran University. She graduated cum laude in 2009 from the Gonzaga University School of Law and is a member of the Washington State Bar Association.

Allison Goodfellow of Enumclaw is among six University of Portland seniors who have been awarded prestigious Fulbright grants to study in Germany and Poland. The six represent the largest class of Fulbrights in the university’s history.

Goodfellow triple-majored in English, history and German studies and graduated May 2.

The United States Fulbright program began in 1946 after World War II to assist in the development of friendly, sympathetic and peaceful relations between the United States and other counties of the world through the exchange of students, scholars and professionals. The program operates in more than 140 countries worldwide.

Tayler Schafer of Enumclaw has been awarded a Presidential Scholarship for $2,500 to Eastern Washington University for the 2010-11 academic year. This scholarship is awarded to high school students with a cumulative high school grade-point average of 3.8 or higher or a Scholastic Aptitude Test score of 1250 or higher.

Schafer will graduate In June from Enumclaw High School where she played golf and was a varsity cheerleader. She was also a member of German club and Honor Society. She will attend EWU in the fall.

She is the daughter of Rick and Tandy Schafer of Enumclaw.

Ariana Huthmacher of Buckley has been awarded a Presidential Scholarship for $2,500 to Eastern Washington University for the 2010-11 academic year. The scholarship is awarded to high school students with a cumulative high school grade-point average of 3.8 or higher or a Scholastic Aptitude Test score of 1250 or higher.

Huthmacher will graduate in June from White River High School, where she played varsity soccer and was on the varsity track team. She was also a member of the National Honor Society.

She will attend EWU in the fall.

She is the daughter of Jack and Carla Huthmacher of Buckley.

The following Plateau-area students made the Seattle Pacific University 2010 winter quarter dean’s list. Students on the list have completed at least 12 credits and attained a 3.50 or higher grade-point average.

The following local students were named to Western Washington University’s honor roll for winter quarter 2010. To qualify, students must complete at least 14 graded credit hours during a quarter and be in the top 10 percent of their class.
