PARKING COMPLAINT

• A vehicle was impounded from the city-owned parking lot at Cole Street and Initial Avenue after being parked there for several days. The lot was posted “no parking” due to the coming street fair. The owner arrived at the police station Thursday afternoon to learn what happened to his car and was told it had been impounded. He said he had not seen any signs and would be writing a letter of complaint. An officer included photos of the “no parking” signs in his report.

WELFARE CHECK

• Police responded at 6:30 p.m. Thursday after hearing of a woman hitting a boy in the front yard of a Porter Street residence. It was determined that a parent was disciplining her child and no excessive force was used.

THREATS MADE

• A woman told police she was receiving threats over the phone and online. An officer responded Thursday and determined there was no criminal activity. The officer advised the woman to stop communicating with the man online if she wanted him to leave her alone.

FORGERY

• Police were told July 21 of an attempted prescription forgery at a Roosevelt Avenue business. One person was taken into custody on a forgery charge.

THREE CHARGES

• A subject was stopped by police at 8:39 p.m. July 21 in the vicinity of Railroad Street and Stevenson Avenue. The person eventually was arrested for being a minor in possession of alcohol, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

HAND TO HAND

• An officer observed a hand-to-hand exchange between two subjects at 3:01 a.m. July 20 on Griffin Avenue. The two went their separate ways, but one was contacted by an officer, who found the subject highly intoxicated. The man identified himself and was found to be the subject of a non-extradition arrest warrant.

SUSPICIOUS

• Two toddlers with backpacks and blankets were seen walking westbound along Roosevelt Avenue the morning of July 20. As an officer arrived, the kids were scooped up by adults in a minivan. The officer contacted the adults and confirmed they were the kids’ parents.

OUT OF TOWNER

• At a bit before 6 p.m. Sunday, a 23-year-old Sumner man was stopped for speeding at the 28200 block of 112th Street. After the officer made contact with the suspect he took the violator into custody on charges of negligent driving, failing to obey an officer, possession of less than 40 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The subject was issued multiple criminal citations and was booked into the Buckley jail.

VEHICLE PROWL

• At 11:30 a.m. Saturday, police were dispatched to an Albert Street residence where a woman informed them that sometime during the night, someone had crawled through an opened back window of her vehicle and stolen $20 from her purse, which had been on the front seat of her locked vehicle. The woman said that nothing else had been stolen and that she had heard nothing during the night. There were no suspects or witnesses.

FOUND PROPERTY

• At 3:15 p.m. Thursday, officers were dispatched to an Edith Street address where an 80-year-old homeowner told them that he had found several objects in the alley behind his home that did not belong to him. The Buckley police, who believe the items may be related to a recent rash of vehicle prowls, collected the items and entered them into evidence.
