• A 21-year-old male was stopped March 11 at 10:33 p.m. for driving a vehicle with a defective taillight in the intersection of Church Lake Road and Evergreen Drive. The driver was unable to provide proof of insurance and the officer noticed a hole punched in the driver’s license. A status check revealed the license was suspended. The driver was cited for driving with a suspended license, failure to provide insurance and driving with a defective taillight.

BONNEY LAKE

LICENSE SUSPENDED

• A 21-year-old male was stopped March 11 at 10:33 p.m. for driving a vehicle with a defective taillight in the intersection of Church Lake Road and Evergreen Drive. The driver was unable to provide proof of insurance and the officer noticed a hole punched in the driver’s license. A status check revealed the license was suspended. The driver was cited for driving with a suspended license, failure to provide insurance and driving with a defective taillight.

WARRENTS

• A 19-year-old male was stopped at 5:55 p.m. for driving with a defective taillamp in the 20800 block of state Route 410. The driver presented his driver’s license and registration, but did not have proof of insurance. A check revealed the driver had a warrant out for his arrest from Sumner Police Department. The driver was placed in handcuffs and admitted there was marijuana in his vehicle. The driver was transported and released to Sumner Police and issued a criminal citation for possession of marijuana and issued an infraction for a defective taillight and no insurance.

WARRANTS

• A 22-year-old male was stopped at approximately 8:09 p.m. March 7 for a records check revealing two warrants from Bonney Lake Police Department for driving with license suspended in the third degree and unlawful possession of marijuana. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Fife jail where he was booked for the warrants. A 29-year-old male was arrested after a routine registration check on his vehicle in the 18200 block of SR 410 revealed a warrant for his arrest from Tacoma. The driver was arrested and released to Tacoma police.

• While assisting with a traffic stop an officer noticed a vehicle pass with a headlight out on March 10 at 3:04 a.m. The vehicle was stopped in the 19200 Block of SR 410. While speaking with the driver, the officer noticed two male passengers in the vehicle, one of which did not have a seat belt on. When asked for identification, the 19-year-old man replied he didn’t have any. A ballistic vest was noticed at his feet in the car, as well as an axe. Another officer responding to the scene noticed a handgun on the floor of the car. The gun was taken as evidence and the 19-year-old was arrested.

SUMNER

STOLEN MEDICATION

• Staff at a senior residence facility reported that residents were missing prescription medications. A new employee had been asking residents about their medications even though they handle their own, and residents found the same employee in their apartment with no explanation. Later, they found medication missing. On March 11, a detective and officer questioned the employee. She denied taking medications. She gave police permission to search her vehicle, and they found a coin purse and small bag with various medications. Employee said that she had prescriptions for them. Police compared the missing medications to those found and took the employee to the police station. There, she admitted she stole medication from an apartment. Police booked her into Pierce County jail.

ALCOHOL

• On March 10, an officer noticed two men in Heritage Park near the garbage can. Both had blue aluminum cans and one was pouring the contents into a jug. When they spotted the officer approaching, one placed his can inside his jacket and the other threw his in the garbage can. The officer asked to see the cans, which contained beer. He told the men it was illegal to have alcohol in the city parks and made them pour out the contents. He cited both and issued a 45-day trespass notice from the park.
