SHOPLIFTING
• At approximately 1:50 p.m. Dec. 6, the manager of a local business reported that an unknown suspect stole five video games and fled from the store on foot. The suspect was not located. The manager valued the merchandise at $300. The suspect is believed to be a 17- to 19-year old male. He was wearing a white sweatshirt and white hat at the time of the theft.
OBSTRUCTION/DUI
• At approximately 4:32 p.m. Dec. 5, police were dispatched to a report of an assault in a restaurant parking lot. Officers were advised that the suspect was possibly armed with a knife and leaving the parking lot in a white Chevrolet pickup. Officers observed the driver of the pickup attempting to leave the scene. The driver attempted to avoid police by making multiple abrupt turns before attempting to escape on foot. The suspect surrendered after a two-block pursuit. He was arrested for obstruction and officers observed he appeared intoxicated. It was determined that suspect was also driving with a suspended license. He was booked into the Buckley jail.
DOMESTIC ASSAULT
• At approximately 5:25 p.m. Dec. 6, police were dispatched to a residence on 183rd Avenue East, responding to a report of domestic assault. A male victim said a female suspect slapped him after he called her a vulgar name. Police took the female suspect to the Buckley jail and issued a temporary no-contact order.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
• At approximately 10:15 p.m. Dec. 5, police responded to a report of a possibly-intoxicated driver. A witness reported the driver swerving his pickup eastbound on state Route 410 before parking and entering a lounge with a friend. Police entered the business and encountered the 26-year-old male suspect, who denied driving his vehicle and became belligerent. Police left the scene and the suspect was later seen continuing to be belligerent with employees of a nearby store. A friend removed the suspect from the scene, and police have forwarded charges of disorderly conduct to the prosecuter.
VANDALISM
• On Dec. 7 a man reported vandalism to both locks on his vehicle parked on Springwood Drive. An officer arrived at the residence and observed the locks were badly damaged. The officer examined the vehicle for evidence with negative results and did not find other victim vehicles in the vicinity. There is no suspect information at this time.
Sumner
LICENSE SUSPENDED
• At approximately 6:15 a.m. Dec. 2, officers were called to the 6600 block of 166th Avenue for a person who pulled into a parking lot, stepped out of the driver’s seat and passed out on the ground. When officers arrived the subject was sitting in the driver’s seat of his vehicle with the keys in the ignition. The subject showed obvious signs of intoxication. Officers contacted the subject’s girlfriend who advised he had been drinking after hours at his work, a local bar. The subject was arrested for physical control and driving with a suspended license.
COLLISION
• At approximately 8:01 p.m. Nov. 25, officers responded to a two-car, non-injury vehicle collision at the intersection of Thompson Street and Traffic Avenue. One driver reported he had been traveling at 45 mph on a 25 mph road when another vehicle turned in front of him. The investigation indicated the driver of the speeding vehicle was driving in a negligent manner and was cited for the offense; he was also arrested for driving with a suspended license and for a felony warrant and booked into the Pierce County jail.
