BRANDISHING A WEAPON
• On July 18, officers responded to an incident involving a threat with a weapon at 5:45 p.m. They arrived at the Bonney Lake Police Department where the call originated and ordered the two suspects, a 49-year-old male and a 48-year-old male, on the ground. The 49-year-old admitted to pointing a loaded handgun at the 48-year-old due to a traffic dispute. A search of the 49-year-old’s vehicle netted a metallic smoking device which contained a green, leafy substance, and a pill bottle containing a green, leafy substance was found. The man was booked into the Buckley Jail for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of marijuana. The charge of brandishing a weapon is being referred to the district court prosecutor for review.
THEFT
• On July 18 at 9:03 p.m., officers responded to an attempted theft at Rite Aid. The store shift manager reported two males attempted to steal two cases of beer each from the store. The manager confronted the suspects outside the store, but they dropped the beer and ran to a white pickup and left the area.
HIT AND RUN
• On July 17 at approximately 10:15 p.m., a 32-year-old male was arrested and booked into the Buckley Jail for hit and run attended property and negligent driving in the first degree. The man drove off the road in the 7900 block of 193rd Avenue East and drove over a couple mailboxes before quickly leaving the scene. The driver was contacted by police and did not have identification with him. He stated he had “one beer, an hour and a half ago” and did not realize he struck the mailboxes. Police spoke to a 23-year-old male who followed the vehicle after it hit his mailbox. The 23-year-old stated the vehicle he followed ran several stop signs. The suspect later admitted to having a shot of Jagermeister with his beer.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
• On July 21 at approximately 8:54 p.m., officers were dispatched to Allan Yorke Park for a report of disorderly conduct. Two 29-year-old males and a 22-year-old male were arrested for disorderly conduct after inciting a physical fight and were booked into the Buckley Jail.
MALICIOUS MISCHIEF
• On July 21 at 8:37 a.m., a 56-year-old female employee of the Sumner School District reported someone broke some windows at Bonney Lake Elementary School. There is no information regarding a suspect or suspects.
BURGLARY
• On July 20 at approximately 11:16 a.m. an officer was dispatched to speak with a 76-year-old man in the Bonney Lake Police Department lobby regarding a theft. The man stated he lives on Church Lake Drive and several of his tools were stolen from his garage. The man stated the theft occurred when nobody was home July 16 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. The man stated the garage door was open because his children come to the residence frequently and access it. The items stolen were a nail gun, an air compressor, a weedeater, a power drill and a gas can. Nobody borrowed the items from him, he stated. The man stated it takes two people to lift the air compressor and believes the suspect or suspects may be an unknown guest or unknown guests from his Fourth of July party. No leads at this time.
SUMNER
INTOXICATED MALE
• On July 18 at approximately 11:30 a.m., an officer patrolling downtown was informed of an extremely intoxicated male in Heritage Park. As officer approached, the man tried to conceal a bag by placing it behind him and then tried to pour beer out of the can and into bushes. The officer cited the man and trespassed him from city parks.
SHOPLIFTING
• On July 23 at approximately 3 p.m., a store employee in the 1200 block of Valley Avenue confronted a customer who passed all sales points and exited the store without paying. Upon being confronted, the suspect became very agitated and wrestled with an employee before being detained. The suspect’s cart had 40 items including a birthday cake that he had decorated with his daughter’s name. The responding officer asked if he came intending to pay for any of it, and the suspect replied that he had no money. He was arrested for theft in the second degree.
ESCORT HOME
• On July 23, a police officer spotted an elderly lady sitting outside the front door of a hair salon at 154th and Main Street around 11:30 p.m. She thought her appointment was that day and was waiting. The officer escorted her home and suggested she call the salon at 11:30 a.m. the following morning.
