Police find teens drinking and drugging in empty house | BONNEY LAKE POLICE BLOTTER

MINORS IN POSSESSION: Police on June 24 were dispatched to a possible party complaint in the area of 107th Street East and Angeline Road after the reporting party saw several juveniles walking up and down the street talking about the party. Police arrived and contacted two juvenile males who said there were approximately 30 other juveniles at the party. As people saw police cars, they ran back to the house where the party was going on. Police observed one male hiding behind a tree who fled on foot when officers got out of their car. When called, he stopped and walked back to police. Police noticed a strong smell of intoxicants and marijuana on the suspect, who said he was 19. He was arrested for being a minor in possession of alcohol and a search revealed a bag of marijuana. He was cited and released for minor in possession and possession of marijuana.

BUGLARY: Police on June 25 were called to the 17800 block of 77th Street East for a report of a burglary in process. The homeowner had found six males in the house, which was in the process of being repossessed by the bank and was holding them with a baseball bat until police arrived. The suspects were four juveniles and two adults and it appeared someone had been squatting in the house for some time and there was evidence of drug use throughout the house, including needles and spoons. The room where the suspects were being held also smelled of marijuana and there was graffiti on the walls. All of the suspects had backpacks containing electronic game systems. While police were there, a seventh suspect came down the driveway asking for directions, but the other suspects said he was with them. He also had a backpack containing electronic devices. All seven were arrested. The adults were transported to Piece County jail and the minors were transported to Remann Hall. During the trip, the juveniles bragged to each other about how many times they had been arrested and transported to the juvenile facility in Tacoma. All involved were booked on residential burglary charges.

DUI: Police on routine patrol June 25 noticed a vehicle traveling recklessly and speeding through a neighborhood, as well as failing to stop at two stop signs. Upon contact, the driver appeared intoxicated, was slurring his speech and told police he’d had a couple of beers and apologized for his driving. The driver also failed several roadside sobriety tests and provided a preliminary breath test sample of .125. He was cited for driving under the influence and reckless driving and was transported to Puyallup jail for booking.

POSSESSION: Police on June 26 were dispatched to the 9900 block of 195th Avenue East for a report of a noise/possible party complaint. Upon arrival police contacted two males in a parked car to ask if they had information about the noise; they detected a strong odor of marijuana and the inside of the vehicle was hazy with smoke. When asked, the suspects produced a bag of marijuana and multiple glass smoking devices. Both were cited for possession of marijuana.

MINORS IN POSSESSION: Police on June 26 were dispatched to the 7700 block of 185th Avenue East for a report of a loud party with possible juvenile alcohol consumption. An intoxicated person claiming to be the homeowner told police he was 21 and none of the guests who were drinking were minors, but a records check could not locate anyone with the information given to police. It was later discovered the suspect was only 20 and he admitting to lying about his age. He was cited for being a minor in possession and making false or misleading statements to law enforcement and released. Officers checked for minors at the house and then told them to keep the noise down.

BURGLARY: Officers on June 29 were dispatched to the 11000 block of 184th Avenue East where a resident reported receiving a notice from his alarm company while he was out of town over the weekend. Suspects appeared to have entered through the garage and destroyed the lock to gain entry to the house. Two laptop computers and several electronic game systems were reported missing. Police are investigating.

BURGLARY: On June 28 police took a report from a man in the lobby of the public safety building who said said there had been a burglary at his home, which was under construction. The man reported a generator and a dirt compactor were taken from the garage and provided suspect information for a person he believes responsible.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY: Police on June 29 were dispatched to Sunset Auto Sales on state Route 410 for a burglary report. Employees had arrived at the business to discover the hinges unscrewed from a shed and two pressure washers missing. Police are investigating.

MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: Police on June 28 were dispatched to the Bonney Lake Food Mart for a commercial alarm. Officers arrived to find a glass door on the north side of the building shattered. No entry into the store appeared to have been made and nothing was missing.

A ‘STUPID’ CRIME: Police on June 28 were dispatched to Walmart for a report of a shoplifter in custody. Store security witnessed the suspect place several cosmetic items in her purse and attempt to leave the store without paying. The items were valued at $161.73. She was arrested for theft and admitted to stealing the items and said she did it because she was “stupid.” She was cited and released.

SHOPLIFTING: Police were dispatched to Safeway June 28 for a report of a suspect leaving the store with a full cart of groceries without paying. Police reviewed video of the suspect and his vehicle and are investigating.

BURGLARY: Police are investigating a June 29 burglary at the Lake Debra Jane Park pool in which an unknown suspect entered the pool hut through an unlocked door and stole $40 from the till. The door was accidentally left unlocked. Police also found an electronic device near the fence that appears to have been dropped while someone was climbing over. The investigation continues

THEFT: Police on June 30 were dispatched to the 7100 block of Vandermark Road East for a report of a residential burglary and motor vehicle theft. The victim, who lives above the garage, said he noticed property moved out of the closet, doors opened and a TV pulled out of the corner of the room. Also missing were a Playstation and games as well as a key to his landlord’s truck, which was also missing. Police are investigating.
