While en route, dispatch advised police the male had fled the scene on foot. Officers arrived and conducted a search while another officer went to contact the victim. The victim was visibly upset, crying and apparently fearful. Her cheek was red and swollen; her arms were bruised. The victim said she and the suspect were arguing while he was intoxicated. She started to walk away and he grabbed her from behind, tackling her to the floor. When she tried to stand up he hit her in the back of the head and the side of her face multiple times while calling her degrading names. The victim screamed she would call the police and the suspect left. HE SAID, SHE SAID: On March 20, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a male subject came to the police department and advised he had been assaulted the night before by his girlfriend. He advised he was at home when she came home and started yelling at him about not having a job. He said the argument escalated and she ended up jumping on him and hitting him in the face numerous times, scratching him on the neck and hands. Another person in the house came and pulled her off of the victim; she then proceeded to assault the interloper as well. They removed her from the house and she inflicted damage on the door. When asked why he didn’t report the assault as it was happening, he said he wanted her to pay for the damage and she wouldn’t answer the phone. Officers contacted the female suspect by phone a couple of days later. She said the man had called her a degrading name, so she slapped him. She also advised that the victim no longer wanted to pursue charges for the assault. The officer advised her that the case would still be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office and that she could still be charged with the assault and to contact the police in the future when these types of incidents occur.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: On March 20, officers responded to the 1500 block of Wood Avenue for a report of a physical altercation between a boyfriend and girlfriend. The boyfriend—the reported victim in the case—was at his neighbor’s home. Officers contacted the victim in the parking lot. The victim was eating dinner when he got into an argument with his girlfriend. The conflict escalated and she hit him in the face, spitting on him and throwing a pan of water at him. He said she hit him five or six times all over his face with both an open and closed fist. The officer did observe redness in the areas he described. The officer asked where the suspect was now and he advised that she was at home with her two young children.
Officers went to speak to the suspect and she advised that the victim called her names so she threw the pan of water at him. She said that a little while later they were still arguing and she did hit him in order to get him away from her children. She also admitted to spitting on the victim. The female suspect was arrested for Assault 4th degree DV and was booked into jail. The suspect/arrestee then notified officers that there were two guns in plain view in the home and that her boyfriend/victim was not allowed to be in possession of firearms due to being a convicted felon. The officer checked the closet for the firearms and they were located. The victim of the Domestic Violence was then arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and booked into Pierce County Jail.
UNDERAGE DRINKING: On March 23, 2012 at about 11:01 pm officers were dispatched to the 14400 block of 74th St Ct E for a report of some juveniles bringing beer into a residence. Officers arrived and saw several cars outside and a sheet covering the dining room window with gaps big enough to see inside of the house. Officers could see the table was set up for “Beer Pong” and many beer cans and bottles on the counters. Officers knocked on the doors and tried many times to get somebody to come to the door with no success. They did however hear people running around inside of the home. The officers contacted the homeowner by phone and asked for permission to go into the home but she was not helpful and basically advised that they would need a warrant. A warrant was obtained and officers were let in and three people were arrested for furnishing liquor to minors. One of the arrestees was booked into jail; the other two were cited and released.
