OBSTRUCTING: At approx. 2 a.m. March 13 police stopped a vehicle on state Route 410 for failing to signal. The vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway and the driver exited the vehicle. The officer told the driver to return to his vehicle, at which point the driver again began driving, stopping only when he reached his residence. The driver became aggressive, yelling epithets at the police officers, including insults about retired members of the Bonney Lake Police Department. According to the police report, the driver insisted he was sober, but continued to insult the police and tried to exit his vehicle, but the officer refused to let him out of the car. The driver then forced his way out of the car past two officers and tried to go into his residence, but was pulled to the ground by the officers, who placed him under arrest. According to the report, officers tried to place the driver in handcuffs, but he strongly resisted and displayed “incredible strength.” After a struggle in the driveway, police were able to cuff the driver. During the struggle, the passenger attempted to exit the vehicle and was ordered back inside, but refused and was also placed under arrest. Both continued to insult police and admitting to hating police throughout the incident and the transport to Buckley Jail. The driver was booked for obstructing and resisting arrest and the passenger was booked for obstructing.
VEHICLE PROWL: Police on March 12 were dispatched to the 11000 block of 181st Avenue East for a report of a vehicle prowl. Among the items stolen were an iPod Nano, a cellular phone, 20 compact discs, an appointment book and a makeup case. The victim reported that the car was unlocked at the time of theft.
SHOPLIFTING: Officers were dispatched to Walmart in March 12 for a report of two juvenile females who were stopped trying to leave the store without paying for merchandise. The two suspects were released to the custody of relatives and were trespassed from Walmart until their 18th birthday. Both are being charged through Remann Hall.
SHOPLIFTING: Police were dispatched to Target March 15 for a report of s shoplifter who attempted to leave the store with a CD player and a SIM card up his sleeve. The suspect admitted to stealing the electronics and was transported to the Buckley Jail and booked with theft.
VEHICLE PROWLS: An officer on routine patrol March 15 was flagged down in the Lowe’s parking lot by an employee who advised the officer of a vehicle prowl in the lot. The lock to the woman’s vehicle had been punched out. Missing from the vehicle were power adapters, cell phone chargers a flashlight and approximately 200 CDs. Police were also informed of a second vehicle that also had a lock punched out. The driver f the second vehicle reported a cell phone charger and approximately 15 cds missing.
THEFT FROM YARDS: Police were called to the 20300 block of Church Lake Road March 7 for a report of a stolen 5,500 watt Coleman generator. Police are investigating.
VEHICLE PROWLS: Police were called to the 21400 block of 104th Street Court East at approximately 5:55 a.m. March 18 for a report of multiple vehicle prowls. The reporting party told police they had heard loud banging in the street and saw an unfamiliar vehicle parked next to his neighbor’s car and a man trying to break the window of the neighbor’s car. When a second car drove by, the male jumped back into his car and drove away. Police investigated the scene, which revealed a broken window in the neighbors car, which contained to large speaker boxes in the back seat. At approximately 7:15 a.m. police were once again dispatched to the block for a report of a second vehicle prowl over the night in which a lock was broken and 150 cds were and a garage door opener were stolen. Witnesses were able to provide a license plate number and the vehicle was located and the registered owner was placed under arrest. The owner said her roommate sometimes used the vehicle. The roommate admitted to the prowls and was booked into Buckley Jail on two counts of vehicle prowl.
SHOPLIFTING: Police were called to Target on March 18 for a report of a shoplifter in custody. The suspect admitted to stealing a Nintendo DS game as well as several other items totaling $78.96. The suspect was cited for theft and advised of his court date.
FORGERY: Police on March 12 were dispatched to Key Bank for a report of a fraud-in-progress. Bank employees were unable to verify a signature on a personal check for $550 and confirmed the check stolen in an attempt to confirm the signature. The suspect claimed the check had been written by the account-holder’s son, who had previously tried to cash a check without his mother’s knowledge. Police took a statement from the suspect and she was booked into Pierce County Jail on one count of forgery.
IDENTITY THEFT: Police March 18 were dispatched to the lobby of the Police Department where a woman reported that an unknown suspect used a computer virus in January to gather personal information and was running credit checks and attempting to open bank accounts using her information. Someone had also accessed her bank account, which she closed. Police are investigating.
DRUGS: An officer on March 13 observed a vehicle stopped on 193rd Avenue East with its lights on and its motor running. As the officer approached the vehicle, he noticed two males passed out in the truck. The driver was holding a lighter and tin foil with burnt residue on it, a sign of Oxycotin use. Both the driver and passenger appeared groggy upon contact and the driver nearly fell getting out of the vehicle. He admitted to smoking an Oxycotin within the hour. The driver was charged with Physical Control, for being behind the wheel of a motor vehicle while under the influence. The passenger got disruptive with police and placed under arrest for resisting. Both were transported to Buckley Jail.
POSSESSION: Police March 16 contacted a driver for a faulty headlamp. When the driver retrieved his paperwork from the glovebox, police saw a baggie of marijuana. The driver admitted the baggie was his and was cited for unlawful possession of marijuana.
