The following is a press release from East Pierce Fire & Rescue:

An unoccupied, single-wide mobile home was destroyed when fire ripped through the abandoned structure just after 11 a.m. Wednesday. Neighbors reported seeing smoke and flames coming from the mobile home at 11:10 a.m. on the 13100 block of Prairie Circle East in the Prairie Ridge area of Bonney Lake. The first firefighters arrived on scene at 11:13 a.m. The firefighters extinguished the blaze within 20 minutes, but the mobile home was declared a complete loss.

According to East Pierce Battalion Chief Pat Beers, the power had been shut off at the time of the fire. “That eliminates a very common ignition source,” he says.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
