The Dennis Keene Scriptwriter’s Critique Group of the Plateau Area Writers Association plowed through Harvey Homan’s screenplay “King’s Run” this year. A gripping story full of action, romance and adventure, “King’s Run” will be a remarkable film. However the group felt the story wouldn’t be appropriate for the December PAWA meeting as it relies heavily on visual as well as verbal impact. Instead, the group will present a radio play written by Laura Curnan, “Murder at the Inn,” from 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 8 at the Enumclaw Public Library.

This play was written several years ago and performed in 2004 to sold-out audiences as a dinner theater presentation for Plateau Community Players.

“Murder at the Inn” is the precursor to the radio play by Curnan presented at the PAWA December meeting in 2007. The play is a fast-paced mystery/comedy set in one of Enumclaw’s stately old homes. What peril awaits the unsuspecting visitors? Is there a treasure hidden behind the walls of the old mansion? What is the secret that died with General Stesson? Those answers await at the December meeting, but beware, attendees might die laughing.

Curnan has had a lifelong romance with the stage, performing since childhood in plays and musical productions. She is one of the original members of the Dennis Keene Scriptwriter’s Critique Group. In her spare time she is executive director of High Point Village, a retirement and assisted living community in Enumclaw.
