QFC shares the lottery love with Plateau Outreach Ministries

The local grocery store donated $20,000 to Enumclaw’s food bank and thrift store.

Enumclaw’s QFC recently donated $20,000 to Plateau Outreach Ministries after selling the winning Washington Lottery ticket.

The wining ticket, worth $7.4 million, was sold on May 19. The winner decided to remain anonymous.

QFC received a 1% — $74,000 — bonus for selling the ticket, which will be used to invest in the store and have a staff celebration.

$20,000 of that was donated POM, which operates a food bank and thrift store in town, on June 6.

“We’re excited to help,” said QFC spokesperson Tiffany Sanders. “Selling the wining lottery ticket is exciting in itself. But then… it’s even more fun when you get to share the excitement by then donating it to someone right here in the community.”

“We are incredibly thankful to QFC for stepping up in such a big way,” Angie Adam, director of community engagement at POM, said. “This is what community partnership looks like.”

One hundred percent of donated funds to POM are put into its various services, which also includes voucher assistance for rent and utilities.
