Both Bonney Lake and Sumner police departments are preparing to begin their citizen’s academy programs and online registration is available for both.
Each department will hold class on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as well as one Saturday. Sumner’s four-week course will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., beginning Feb. 25 and lasting through March 25. Bonney Lake’s seven-week course will run from 6:30 to 9 p.m., beginning March 18.
Topics covered will include department operations, SWAT, K-9, investigations, firearms training and emergency vehicle operations, among others.
Attendees must live or work within the city they wish to attend and have the ability to pass a criminal background check. Registration is free but drop ins will not be permitted to attend, so reserve a spot now to gain better understanding of police services through hands-on learning.
To register online or obtain more information, please visit the respective Sumner Police Department or Bonney Lake Police Department website.
