On Jan. 8, 2013, beginning at 6:30 p.m., the Enumclaw School Board will hold a hearing to receive comment from interested persons and parties regarding the Enumclaw School District’s proposal to transfer certain territory from the Tahoma School District to the Enumclaw District.
The hearing will be held in the gymnasium of the Black Diamond Elementary School, 25314 Baker St., Black Diamond, Washington.
The territory in question is a roughly 35-acre portion, slated for commercial use, of developer Yarrow Bay’s Villages and Lawson Hills master planned developments (MPDs). Other portions of the same developments are already in the Enumclaw School District and are slated substantially for residential use.
The Enumclaw School Board believes the entire related developments should be in the Enumclaw District, in part so that future property tax revenues from the commercial portions of the developments will help to support the costs of public school education of students living in the 6,000+ new residential units of the MPDs.
Persons who wish to speak at the hearing (two minute maximum for individuals; three minute maximum for representatives of groups) may sign up in advance by emailing (diana_aaby@enumclaw.wednet.edu) or calling 360-802-7102, or may sign in upon arrival at the hearing on Jan. 8, 2013.
Speakers will be heard in order of sign-up, unless it appears that there are more speakers than may be heard in 2 hours, in which case the Enumclaw School Board president reserves the option to take speakers out of order so as to assure that representatives of various points of view are heard.
Persons or parties who wish to communicate their views regarding the proposal, but who are not able to attend the Jan. 8, 2013 hearing, may provide their input by email, through Jan. 8, 2013 to diana_aaby@enumclaw.wednet.edu using subject line “Proposed transfer of territory.”
