A science experiment is being blamed for triggering a smoke alarm Monday morning at Bonney Lake High School that led to the school being evacuated.
East Pierce Fire and Rescue responded to an automatic fire alarm at Bonney Lake High School this morning just after 9 a.m. When firefighters arrived, the school had been evacuated.
A Bonney Lake Police Department School Resource Officer advised the firefighters that he saw smoke in one of the buildings where the alarm had sounded. The firefighters upgraded the call to a commercial structure fire response, bringing additional engines to the scene.
It was determined that a science experiment had set off the alarm. The firefighters cleared out the smoke and the students were allowed back into the classrooms.
No one was injured in the incident.
