BULLET HOLE: Police on June 11 were dispatched to the 6000 block of 195th Avenue East for a report from a homeowner of a bullet hole in her garage door. According to police, the bullet went through the garage door at an angle and lodged in an interior garage door. The hole was consistent with a .45 calibre and the bullet appeared to have been fired from a neighboring yard or the street in front of a neighboring house. The reporting party said she heard a noise and voices in front of her house late the night before and went to investigate. She heard footsteps running from the area, but did not see anyone and did not notice the bullet hole because it was dark. The victim reported being involved in a dispute with neighbors and she was advised on how to attempt to obtain an order of protection.
PROWLED: Police on June 15 were dispatched to the 18000 block of 107th Street East for a report of a vehicle prowl. According to the victim, he came out of his house this morning and discovered the door to his daughter’s vehicle ajar and her purse and several graduation gifts were missing. Among the items missing were her drivers license and debit card, a ring estimated at $4,000, five unopened graduation card containing checks, an iPhone, a gas gift card and a matching necklace and earring set. Police are investigating.
PROWLED: Police on June 15 were dispatched to the 19200 block of 109th Street East for a report that a resident’s company vehicle had been broken into overnight. The vehicle was left unlocked in his driveway. Two work credit cards, and identification card and a set of keys were stolen. The victim also reported that someone used one of the credit cards at approximately 4:40 a.m. at Albertson’s and then attempted to use the card again after 6 a.m. but were denied. Police have reviewed video from Albertson’s and are investigating.
PROWL: Officers on June 16 were dispatched to the 4900 block of North Vista Drive for a report of a vehicle prowl. Among the missing items was a GPS unit, a garage door opener and approximately 50 compact discs. Police are investigating.
THEN YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER: Officers on June 17 were dispatched to the Safeway for a report of a shoplifter in custody. Security witnessed the suspect select several items valued at $32, place them in a bag and attempt to leave the store without paying. The suspect, who claimed to be “prior law enforcement” declined to comment to police and was cited or theft and released.
SHOPLIFTING: Police on June 17 were dispatched to the Safeway for a report of a shoplifter in custody. Store security witnessed the suspect select more than $450 worth of groceries and attempt to leave the store without paying. She was arrested for theft and transported to Buckley Jail where she was booked.
MAIL THEFT: Police on June 17 were contacted by a man reporting a theft of a check. According to the victim, he gave his daughter a check made out to his doctor’s office for $37.45, which she placed in a mailbox at her residence in the 18300 block of 74th Street East. The check in question was later cashed at a Covington Walmart for the amount of $402.49. King County Sheriffs could not take a report of fraud until the theft was reported to Bonney Lake.
NO ‘SMOKING,’ PLEASE: Officers were dispatched June 17 to the Regal Cinemas for a report of a driver operating his vehicle in a reckless manner and possibly under the influence. Police were advised by an off-duty officer working a shift as security that a nearby vehicle was spinning its tires, doing burnouts and creating a cloud of smoke. When police contacted the driver, he smelled of intoxicants and his eyes were bloodshot and watery. He told police he was teaching a female passenger how to use a clutch when it slipped and his foot got stuck on the gas pedal, causing him to accidentally spin the tires. The driver agreed to take field sobriety tests, some of which he passed, others of which he failed. The driver then declined to take a preliminary breath test. The officer arrested him on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He was transported to Buckley Jail where he blew breath tests of 0.092 and 0.087. He was cited for driving under the influence and reckless driving and booked into the Buckley Jail.
BURGLARY: Police on June 19 responded to a burglary/vandalism call in the 6100 block of 207th Avenue East. According to the homeowner, an unknown person entered her carport between the hours of 3 and 7 a.m. and removed a large amount of beer from a refrigerator inside. The suspect also dismantled the glovebox in a car and sprayed weed killer in the passenger compartment. Police are investigating.
NOT SHOPLIFTERS BUT WARRANTS: Police on June 19 responded to a report of shoplifters fleeing the Fred Meyer in Bonney Lake. Police pulled over the suspect vehicle and records checks revealed the driver was driving with license suspended and two of the passengers had outstanding felony warrants. One of the suspects was also recognized as someone who was trespassed from all Fred Meyer stores for his part in an alleged organized retail theft. It was determined that no shoplifting took place on the day of the incident. The driver was cited and released. The passengers with warrants were transported to Pierce County Jail for booking on their warrants.
STOLEN CHECKS: Police June 20 took a report from a resident reporting someone stole a check from her mailbox and used it at a Home Depot in Federal Way. The check was written to the city of Bonney Lake in the amount of $75 and was cashed at Home Depot for $510.45. Police are investigating.
