As Plateau property owners continue clearing their land of snapped branches that fell during January’s ice storm, a couple of local sites remain open to accept the woody debris.

Most recently, King County Fire District 28 and the state’s Department of Natural Resources teamed up to create a collection site – for residents of the district only – at the fire station in Cumberland. The site will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday through Feb. 15.

There will be no fee for disposing of storm-generated debris taken from residential properties. Commercial vehicles, including those belonging to landscaping companies, will not be allowed.

The drop-off site will take woody limbs and branches only and nothing more than 6 feet in length or 6 inches in diameter. No leaves, clippings or other non-woody vegetative matter will be accepted.

The fire station is at 35420 Veazie-Cumberland Rd.

In Enumclaw, the city drop-off site at the Enumclaw Expo Center north parking lot will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday.

The Expo Center site is for Enumclaw residents only. Proof of residency – in the form of a drivers license or city utility bill – is required. There is no fee to dispose of debris. No commercial vehicles will be allowed to dump debris.

Accepted will be woody limbs and branches only. No leaves, clippings or other non-woody matter will be accepted. Limbs must not exceed 6 feet in length and 6 inches in diameter.
