UNRESPONSIVE: At 3:36 p.m., officers were called to the 900 block of Park Street to respond to a report of an unconscious and unresponsive young man in a female teenager’s bed. The person who made the call told police that the man was intoxicated and had passed out. Police officers confirmed the claim by the smell of intoxicants on the man’s person. East Pierce Fire arrived and attempted to get a response from the man. The female to whom the bed belonged was laying next to the man. She was slow to respond. The officer recommended to the parents that they take their daughter to the hospital, and informed them that they would be charging her with Minor in Possession. The young man in the bed kicked the medic treating him and threatened to kill him and his family. He was booked into Remann Hall after being cleared at the hospital.
BURGLARY: On April 1, officers received a call of a possible burglary in progress on the 13600 block of 24th St. E. The same location had been burglarized the day before, and the same suspect vehicle description was provided to responding officers. The vehicle, a truck, was spotted with miscellaneous items in the back. When asked what he was doing, the driver of the truck said the “old man” gave him permission to take the items, but he did not know the name of the alleged “old man” when asked. The officer asked the property owner if he had given permission to the man to take the items, and the owner said he had not. After an inventory of the items was taken, it was determined that an estimated $1,200 in property was in the truck. The items were removed and returned to the barn, while the driver was arrested and booked into Pierce County Jail for burglary.
WELFARE CHECK: At 10:53 p.m. on April 1, officers were dispatched to Traffic Avenue and the state Route 410 overpass to conduct a welfare check on a wandering subject. The man was reportedly walking into traffic, flipping off cars, and kicking the cars as they drove by. When the first officer arrived, the man was intoxicated and blocking vehicle traffic. The officer told the man he was under arrest, before the subject began actively resisting the officer. It took three officers to escort the man to a police vehicle. He then became combative and began kicking at a witness. While en route to Remann Hall, he began slamming his head against the partition, causing himself to bleed from the head. Due to his agitated state, he was transported to the hospital to be medically cleared before booking. He was eventually booked into Remann Hall for disorderly conduct, minor in possession or consumption, malicious mischief and resisting arrest.
