South King County hit with second quake

Greenwater shook on Feb. 18;

Two earthquakes hit south King County last week.

First was a 3.0 magnitude earthquake in the Greenwater area on Feb. 18.

According to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network, the earthquake hit Lester, a ghost town just west of Greenwater, about 9:54 a.m.

It was recorded to be about 5.3 miles (8.71 kilometers) underground.

A shake map shows light shaking at the epicenter. It appears unlikely any activity was felt inside the city of Enumclaw, though the eastern outskirts may have experienced a little shaking.

The second quake, with a magnitude of 3.4, shook the Lake Holm area east of Black Diamond at 3:45 a.m. on Feb. 22.

This event was far deeper — nearly 15.5 miles (25.36 km) below ground — and was likely felt from Renton to Graham, with rumblings reaching as far as Enumclaw and event Seattle.

If you felt either of these quakes, you can report it with the United States Geological Survey at earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/uw62076406/dyfi/intensity.
