“ONLY” 80: Police March 19 observed a vehicle on 214th Avenue traveling at a speed estimated to be more than 100 mph in a 35 mph zone and turned to pursue the vehicle.
As the officer accelerated to more than 90 mph, he witnessed the vehicle turn on to Prairie Ridge Drive, spinning out and kicking up dust as it went. The vehicle finally stopped at Cedar Circle East and the officer immediately placed the driver into custody for reckless driving.
The driver was uncooperative, yelling “Come on cop, I was only driving 80.” As police read him his rights, the driver laughed and told the officer he was “stupid” and that he was not going to be “punked out by a cop.” During a search, police found a bag of marijuana on the suspect and two prescription pills the driver said were prescription vicodin, though no prescription bottle was found in the car.
The driver was transported to Pierce County Jail for booking on charges of reckless driving, during which his attitude veered from cooperative and apologetic to insulting, leading police to believe he was on a narcotic of some kind. He was booked on charges of reckless driving, unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of a prescription.

During a search, police also found marijuana and a pipe in the vehicle, as well as a large dagger near the seat and a machete in the trunk.
