Spring is in the air and organizers continue gearing up for Enumclaw’s Spring Expo, slated for April 23-25. Doors will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. the first two days and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. This event features free parking and admission is $1, with kids younger than 3 entering free.

Although this event is not a typical fair, there will be fair food vendors. There will be opportunities to spruce up flower beds as nurseries will be on site with fresh ideas and plants to take home. For those needing gardening advice on a budget, longtime, local garden expert Marianne Binetti will be presenting at 4 p.m. April 23. Other demonstrations include pruning and worm composting. The demonstration stage is located in the exhibit hall along with more than 75 craft and gift vendors. Spring exhibits will be on display outside as well with lawn art, fountains, lawn furniture and other home improvement items.

The Enumclaw High School FFA will sponsor a petting zoo. Other animals at the event include alpacas, rabbits and if all goes as planned, the Cloverleaf Goat 4-H group. Goat demonstrations will be ongoing throughout the event.

In the rodeo arena there will be plenty to see. The Trailblazer 4-H group is sponsoring a rodeo gaming show all day April 24 and the Northwest Barrel Racers have a competition all day the 25th. Admission is free to those events upon paid admission into the fair.

Two stages will have continuous entertainment. There will be three performances each day by Professor Bamboozle and local band Cylas will perform from 5 to 7 p.m. on the main stage. Enumclaw country female vocalist Rae Solomon entertains during the lunch hour April 24 and a male country vocalist hits the stage at 5. Wrapping up Sunday will be Boys of Greenwood Glen with a little Irish bluegrass.

Back by popular demand, the Maple Valley Rednecks are fine-tuning and revving up their racing lawnmowers and a tractor pull competition is on the schedule, too. The lawnmowers and tractors, along with models provided by two antique tractor clubs, will be on display throughout the event.

Kids of all ages will be entertained in the midway Saturday and Sunday with games and activities like a mechanical bull, trampoline with bungee, rock climbing wall, laser tag, paintball, arcade games, hay rides and hot air balloon rides. Peak Gymnastics will be open with shows, indoor park, carnival activities and a pancake breakfast both April 24 and 25.
