Until further notice, a Stage 2 burn ban in Pierce County is in affect.

With the ban, no burning is allowed in wood burning fireplaces or stoves. Until air quality improves, residents should focus on using other sources for heat such as furnaces or baseboard heaters.

There is an exception for those people who’s only source of heat is a wood burning fireplace or stove.

Also, no outdoor fires are allowed under the burn ban. Violating the ban can result in a $1,000 penalty.

Natural gas and propane stoves are OK to use during the Stage 2 ban.
